Rapid-I has a linear measurement mode in which distances along the X and Y axes are calculated. If the object is placed at an angle with respect to the workstage XY axis, the software comes with the User-defined Coordinate System (UCS) module. The UCS module allows the user to define a new coordinate system relative to the object under study. Once defined, the linear mode will display point-point distances along the X and Y axes respectively. These measurements are simply offsets in the two axes, and can be used directly to generate part programs for any CNC controller for manufacturing. The values can be easily exported to Excel at any time.
